About this deal

I hated the FMC before I found out she was bisexual, but when I found out she was bisexual, I hated the author. I was so happy this was written in dual POV! It really made the two main characters shine. They felt real and had depth captured through their fears and dreams. I always love a dual POV romance, I want to be able to read about both characters falling for each other! Early morning: Some people find that reading in the morning helps them start their day with a positive and productive mindset. Similarly to the first book in this series, the ending was rushed. The pacing was off and everything was neatly wrapped together in less than 3 chapters. Even though her family showed up in the end, the resolution just wasn’t there. She got to say her piece (a little) but I was left wanting more. For her family dynamics being her biggest struggle in the book, we should have seen more. Even with her Lab partner, Alice. One little exchange in the bathroom wasn’t enough. For someone who had no problem treating her boyfriend and best friend poorly, she sure was nice and complacent with the “villians” of the book.

cooper callhan came in and delivered with the daddy issues, i really did appreciate the portrayal of being the middle child and feeling unloved or underappreciated. i feel like i never really see that type of content outright. his story in particular made me realize that even though somebody could technically have everything in the world (money, fame, love, etc.) their problems are still just as valid as the next. cooper truly struggled with his relationship with his father and after seeing the obvious effect it had on him it was beautiful to see the slow development and resolution of that relationship. even though he may be fictional, i wish that man all the best. Yet the longer our connection goes on, the more we trust each other, and the less I want to say goodbye. I know love leads to heartbreak, but what if it can also clear the ice for a breakaway? I cannot tell you how much I appreciated that the conflict at the end was not a third act breakup and really, that there was no breakup at all. Our characters were pretty mature and whenever I thought we were reaching a situation that would normally result in some kind of relationship ending miscommunication, they handled it extremely well and not at all how I normally expect them to. It was refreshing and still kept the story interesting and compelling despite not having that unnecessary drama. PLUS PLUS!!!! HOLD THE PHONE AND SIT DOWN BECAUSE WHAT YOU WILL FIND OUT WITH BEX !!!! AHHHHH!! Lets just say, you better read this book now. I cannot get over Seb, who doesn’t love an athlete plus a cook?! I’ll wait. He struggled a lot within this book and we find out a lot about his past and how much he still is struggling.

I appreciated that they were still young enough to be making plenty of mistakes in trying to work out who they are and what they want from life, but they were old enough (maybe 22ish?) to have their new relationship feel like it could definitely stand the test of time if they were committed enough and communicated appropriately—which I think they were doing well by the stories end. This book starts out a few months after Mia ended her secret friends with benefits relationship with Seb after they were caught by Cooper (Sebs brother). Seb wanted more and has no idea what went wrong. When Mia’s place floods and she has no where to live Seb sees an opportunity to help Mia, but also get close to her again. James Callahan. Enough said. He has my heart. He was so cute and just impossible to not fall for. His love for Bex was adorable, he was all-in from the start and wasn’t afraid to share his feelings.

Thanks to the ex from hell, I’m a long way from being ready for a relationship–but after an unfortunate morning involving my roommate and a flying–ahem–personal toy, it’s clear that it’s finally time to reclaim my agency, one long-sought-after experience in bed at a time. when i originally read first down, i loved cooper and sebastian (maybe even a little more so than i even loved james.) they both had these winner personalities and were incredibly funny each and every time they were mentioned in the book (as well as post-grad: the extended epilogue) cooper, specifically, has such a charming personality. he was caring, funny, flirtatious, nerdy, and knew his boundaries. that man had a heart of gold. his energy matches penny's incredibly well. cooper was very passionate about everything: including penny (and lord of the rings, but mostly penny) the way cooper was completely on board with sharing her interests and taking a deep dive crash course into penelope ryder was absolutely heartwarming.

breakaway wasn't just some fifty shades of grey, there was a reason for the season. i personally think that aspect of the book pulled cooper and penny closer together in their relationship. penny had to gradually build some type of trust with cooper to continue guiding her through the list she'd made. their relationship blossomed as that friendship, trust, and love did. I have two goals this get into a study abroad program, and get over golden baseball god Sebastian Miller-Callahan. A secret friends-with-benefits arrangement with the coach’s daughter shouldn’t have a shot in the dark of leading to more… sebastian is a 1200000/10 book boyfriend. he was SO sweet, spicy, supportive, possessive and dominating when it mattered, and so protective of mia. a lot of the story is about mia’s bisexuality and how her family isn’t supportive of that and he doesn’t hesitate to stand up for her. his family and friends are also hesitant to accept her after she essentially ghosted him and he defends her every single time. SUCH an amazing book boyfriend, i can’t.
